      Getting outside and taking in fresh air is always nice, especially If you are a person who enjoys nature. However, the little annoyances that can come with nature walks can put a damper on your enjoyment; particularly, bugs, thorns, and poison ivy. Bugs are easy to keep away from you, because you can simply spray on bug spray, or wear long sleeved shirts and pants. Thorns are also easy to keep away from your skin if you wear clothes that cover your arms, legs and feet. That just leaves poison ivy, a slightly harder annoyance to do away with. Not only is it annoying to get, but it can be a pain in the butt to get rid of. 

       How do I get rid of poison Ivy Really Fast?
      When attempting to cure poison ivy, there are three things you need to keep in mind; first, after exposure, you need to wash the oils off of your skin, second, you need to keep the rash cool, and lastly, you will not be helping yourself out if you decide to scratch at the rash. 
      To wash the oils off it is best to use cold or lukewarm water, and scrub your whole body down with a wash cloth you can dispose of afterwards.  Also, you should take a toothbrush that you will no longer be using for your teeth and scrub your nails, just in case any of the poison oil got under your nails; getting the oil off of your skin as fast as you can, will increase your chances that the rash will not be as severe.
       What are some ways I can relieve poison ivy itch?
      One way to relieve the itch of poison ivy is to take an oatmeal bath. An oatmeal bath helps relieve the itching by drying up the rash quicker than normal. A second resolution to your itching skin is to use a cream such as hydrocortisone which also works by drying up the areas you apply it to. A final way to find some relief is to apply plain yogurt to the infected area. The yogurt will help to heal the blisters quicker by drawing out the liquid inside them, providing you with relief from the itching.

       What does sweating do to poison ivy rashes?
      The most horrid part of having poison ivy is the itching, which is why sweating is not a great idea; it will irritate the rash further! However, contrary to what you may have heard, unless you have not washed the oils off your skin, sweating will NOT cause the rash to spread. It is just not a wise idea to head to the gym if you have a recent case of poison ivy.
       How long after contact does it take for poison ivy rash to appear?
       ! Depending on how sensitive your skin is determines how long it will take for the rash to form.  Normally, with most people, the rash will appear within two days, however in people with more sensitive skin the rash will appear within 24 hours and be excruciatingly itchy. Sadly, for the people with more sensitive skin, it takes around two weeks to heal fully. Talk about annoying!

      The best treatment for poison ivy is to get the oil of your skin as fast as humanly possible and to maintain self-control and not scratch at the infected areas. It would also be wise for you to keep lotion on the rash or to take oatmeal baths twice a day. Other than that time and patience is your best bet. Getting poison Ivy is no fun, and getting rid of it can really be a headache. However, it is important that you know how to handle poison ivy so that the itching doesnt drive you crazy.
